Labor Day in Seattle

See, this all started when Leslie bought a house in Seattle. Of course, we had to go see it. Lil naturally wanted to go along with us. The house was a bit too much on the cozy side for all of us, but fortunately there is a nice motel right down the street, where Linda and Jim holed up.

We wanted to spend some time out of doors in Seattle, but Lil's mobility, or lack thereof, imposed some constraint. A quick web search located a combination of nature trail and community garden with a nice path suitable for a wheelchair.

Leslie and Lil The garden proved to be a good place to take spider photos:Araneus diadematus on a Dahlia and Harvestman on squash blossom This outing came to an abrupt end after 30 minutes or so when Lil decided we'd had enough exercise for one day.

On Friday, Linda and Jim abandoned Lil and Leslie for a day trip to Friday Harbor and beyond in search of orcas. We found some, and had time in Friday Harbor to do a little shopping. Jim found some incense that he thought essential. Linda is not too pleased with this new passion. She, meanwhile, discovered some great, amusing books.

Orcas The rest of the visit was spent doing what we like best: eating good food. Besides sampling some of the restaurants Seattle has to offer, we had a fabulous barbecue courtesy of Leslie's friends and co-workers.
