We saw several of these spiders on the path to Platt's Pond near Hornsby Bend. The zigzag part of the web really stood out, making it easy to spot. The spider itself is quite small, about 1cm for the body.

I am sure this is argiope from the characteristics of the web, but as yet, I have not been able to identify it.
