Linda checks out Sea Lions on the Beach

||
About this photo:Like many of the birds, the sea lions (Zalophus californianus wollebaeki) are endemic, a resident sub-species of the familiar California Sea Lion. These were resting and nursing young. As you can see, they were also quite tame and easy to approach, so long as there were no male beachmasters around. There is another species of Sea Lion in the islands, inaptly called Galapagos Fur Seals (Arctocephalus galapagoensis). We don't have a good photo of one, but here is one on the web. |
