Jim's milestone 3x4x5 birthday occurred on the day he, Linda, and Dama Lil flew to LA to visit Claire for Thanksgiving. Deprived of the usual festivities, and taking advantage of Southwest Airlines known penchant for having fun on board, he asked the flight attendant to help him mark the occasion.

Not having a full kitchen on board, the crew did the best with the available materials, crafting a cake from a roll of toilet paper and some plastic swizzle sticks. They also gave him a present, a month's supply of honey-roasted peanuts.

After everyone sang Happy Birthday, a fellow passenger spoke up to say that it was also her birthday. She was 19. Jim noted that all things considered, he'd rather be 19 than 3x4x5.

Jim is holding his birthday present to himself in his left hand, a Dell Axim PDA. We used it a lot on our trips to play Jawbreaker, a game where Linda tries valiantly to reach the Olympian heights Jim has achieved.
