About this photo:

Our "foster grandaughter" Rachel, found this spider constructing a web right outside out back door. The web started at the eaves and extended to the side of the house. I took several pictures, of which this is the best one. Although I cannot be sure this is cavaticus, the spider resembles pictures in the field guide, and the web is exactly as described for this "barn spider."
