Vetch, Vicia Texana(?) |
Date: April 24, 2005, at Deb Herczog's place near Driftwood, TX |

About this photo:This insignificant flower is easy to overlook. The flowers are small, no more than .5" (1.25 cm) in size. This variety is not pictured in the field guide to the flowers of the hill country. Fortunately, a UT botanist was on hand to identify it as "some species of Vicia." It may be the texana species, which occurs in our area. So far, I have not been able to locate a complete description of texana to check. |
