Waterfall near Namling Death Drop

About this photo:

The portion of the main road to the right of the waterfall is known as the "Namling Death Drop." Named for the nearby village, the drop was one of the most difficult parts of the road to build. Many workers died during the construction, from which we get the name.

The actual death drop begins at the chorten, which you can barely make out to the right of the waterfall. There is a corresponding chorten at the other end. We were careful to walk around the chortens in a clockwise direction.

Our guides insisted we walk the drop, rather than riding in the bus. We didn't mind, as there was good birding along the way. In fact, this part of the road seemed to be in a better state of repair than most.
