Summary of the Year
Our New Look
We hope you like our new look. This year, we've included tons of pictures in the report. In fact, the report is mainly contained in the picture descriptions. We've arranged the pictures into convenient collections so you can check out just the ones that interest you. If you just want a quick look, we have the best pictures of the year.
The Classical Annual Report and Executive Summary
From the very beginning, we constrained this report to fit on a single sheet of paper, which in later years was interpreted to mean two sides of a single sheet of paper printed in a readable font. We have produced a classical format report again this year intended mainly for our readers who don't have access to the web. If you want to see what the classical report looks like, a PDF version of it is online. Click Here. We also have an version of the classical report to serve as an Executive Summary of the year. Bhutan
Jim and Linda finally made it to Bhutan this year after serveral postponments. The picture at left shows them standing in front of a mural in the hotel in Paro. The mural shows the story of the four friends, a Buddhist fable illustrating the benefits of helping each other. The trip was everything they hoped, with stunning scenary, lots of great birds, fabulous flowering rhododendron trees, and even good food, which was unexpected.
We've included pictures from the trip, including even one particularly nice bird and lots of flowers. Go to full Bhutan Report
Other Travels
In addition to Bhutan, we managed several short trips within the USA.
- New Orleans: We invited ourselves along on a trip Charles and Amy planned to New Orleans for Memorial Day. Lots of great food, interesting homes, and even a friendly kitten made for a great time. Click here for photos.
- New York: How could we pass up a chance to hit the Big Apple while Claire is still there. She is planning to move to Los Angeles next summer for a year long fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology. We spent another Thanksgiving in New York, enjoying wonderful weather for a change, which encouraged us to take in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade along with the usual plays, museums, and feasting. - Annapolis: We went there twice, once for a quick Labor Day visit, then back for Christmas. Click here for photos
Borrowed Children
Rachel and Grant, children of former foster-daughter Rosalind, came down for a couple of weeks, spending much of the time at day camp at nearby Lost Creek Country Club. We all had a great time. The kids learned that the answer to most questions beginning, "May I..." were answered, "Of course." With Rachel's help, we captured much of the trip in pictures. Click here for photos
