Metacyrba taenio on Linda's Car

About this photo:

On Memorial Day, we visited the Smith-Hargrove gravesite at Forest Park to see Jim Hargrove's tombstone. While we were there, Linda pointed out this ferocious-looking but small spider on the roof of her car. The silver colored stripe beneath the spider is the metal of the door frame, which gives you some idea of the size. Notice the mahogany color on the spider's head and the extra long front legs with slightly flattened femurs. These two items were listed as marks for identifying this spider species, but we like his beard best.
