Hargrove Annual Report 2003: Spider
Araneus species: Maybe diadematus |
About this photo:This spider built a web across the walk in our front yard, with at least a drag line extending from the magnolia tree to a shrub on the other side of the walk. When a departing guest walked into the drag line, we discovered the spider. By the time we had located the camera, the spider has left the web for the relative safety of the magnolia. Fortunately, we were able to find her sitting on a leaf, where we photographed her. |
Identification/Date: Not identified, though I am fairly sure about the genus. This resembles a picture of diadematus in the field guide, but not well enough to be sure.
