About this photo:
 This is one of the best photos in my collection, and one reason why I still keep trying to get good shots. This was taken on September 11, 2002 in the greenhouse at Hornsby Bend. That is a treasure trove of spiders, source of many of my best shots. Linda spotted this spider and oblingly held the leaf while I took the picture. The spider was hiding on the underside of the leaf, not in a web. Later, I captured a shot of the same species hanging in a web in the greenhouse.
I had trouble identifying this spider, finally calling on help from the web. I posted a query on the usenet newsgroup sci.bio.entomology.misc, and got the answer within hours. |
