This year we had a less special, but still noteworthy twin prime birthday this year. So, without calculating how many years we had left, we continued our search for interesting wildlife left in the world.
After an interlude with the Baker Boys at one of their annual mini-reunions, where we lucked into a Woodpecker Festival nearby, we headed to Montana, where we joined fellow Rice Alums on a trip following the route of Lewis and Clark.
In August, we returned to Brazil for the first time since 1985. That year we went on our first major international trip, a four week survey of much of Brazil south of the Amazon with Robert Ridgely and the legendary Ted Parker as guides. This trip was shorter, but did produce a great view of one target species.
I tried blogging trip reports, but found that most people preferred to get the final report as a PDF file. Here are the trip reports we have available. No report for the Grouse trip. Getting up way before dawn and birding until dark took it out of me.
We didn’t neglect the USA this year, traveling to Houston for Granny’s 93 birthday celebration. We gathered the non-California family members for a portrait. There is a small prize to anyone who can identify everyone.
Best wishes for 2016.
