Top Story: More about Purple Haze
We have spent quite a lot of time at Claire and Ron's place in Mendocino County, near Philo. The place is called either Rancho Relaxo or Purple Haze. Besides some nice scenery, and wineries in the area, it a great place to be during a pandemic. The population is low; the area, rural. The people, nice and accommodating. It had one glaring problem. Sometimes PG&E cut the power to avert fire dangers. Ron and Claire were stranded there once with only a cell phone for contacting the outside world, and small solar rechargers to keep the cell phone working. So, we did the obvious.

We are also building (or causing it to be built as Jim's mother would have it) a second structure on the site, near the garden. The site will contain an ADU, Accessory Dwelling Unit, and Music Room. The ADU will house Grandparents or other guests, while the music room will be used for, you guessed it, music. Construction in Mendocino County takes longer than in some other places. We hope to have it all finished by next summer.
