This fellow was sunning himself on a gravel road near Platt Lane in Austin. The morning was still a bit cool, so the snake was not very active. He also appears to have fed recently. Notice the bulge a bit over halfway down his body. Jim was able to get close enough for a nice shot, but he immediately been researching longer lenses that would fit his camera.
