2009 Annual Report: Adventures in Remodeling (concluded)

Jim isn't really that bad!For background, see last year's report: Adventures in Remodeling

We didn't panic. Maybe the market would recover. We could afford to hold out a few more months. Alas, you know the rest. The market continued to slumber, even for a location as desirable as this one.

Finally, we decided to give up. We hired a cleaning crew who removed 20 years worth of grime from the house and most of the weeds from the yard. Then we put the house on the market as is, with Green Mango Realtors, a specialist in the area.

Carrie Bills really knew what she was doing. We sold the house in a week to a nice young couple ready to put sweat equity into it.

The adventure at least ended on an upbeat note: we didn't lose money on the deal, and we don't have to listen to the neighbors complain about gentrification.
