2018 Annual Report: Claire and Ron

Back to the Urban World

As described elsewhere in this report, Ron and Claire, together with Scarlet and Nico, moved into the upper unit of a condo on Potrero Hill while Linda and Jim moved into the lower unit.

Claire continues her job as a pediatric anesthesiologist at Chidren's Hospital Oakland. The latter is now known as "UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland," thanks to a generous gift from Marc Benioff, the founder of Salesforce.com.

Ron moved from Advent Software, which makes "software designed to automate portfolio accounting for investment management firms," [Translation: Does Something] to White Oak Global Advisors, which "provides customized and efficient capital to support small and middle market businesses with their ever changing financing needs." [Translation: Uses Advent Software].

Jim notes that we know pretty much what Claire does, but have little idea of her schedule, while Ron works normal business hours doing something that the rest of us don't really understand.

Purple Haze, the house near Philo, CA, is maturing nicely. It now boasts an extra dining area suitable for locavores. The garden produces a nice crop of tomatoes, which Ron converts into delicious tomato sauce for use in leaner times. The foursome skis now; Nico has overcome his reluctance and attacks the slopes with a complete lack of fear. Scarlet, according to Ron, is even better this year than last.

Here is a photo of the four of them posed, somewhat, in front of the gas fireplace in their condo unit. As usual, Scarlet shows that she has inherited her mother's ability to know when a camera is pointed in her direction. Nico seems to have the ability also, but uses it differently.
